The K3 coating is the first coating that players report, “sound as good or better than uncoated strings.”

DR’s remarkable and proprietary K3 Technology coating is the first coating that makes no apologies and no excuses for not delivering sound equal to uncoated strings. Players tell us that these strings have more volume, less unwanted overtones, greater clarity and articulation than standard, uncoated strings. Yet, they provide the same protection due to corrosion and perspiration as well as increased tone life that coated strings are known for.

String Length: 38″

Material: K3 Luminescent Neon Multi-Color Nickel-Plated Steel. Hexagonal Core Wire with Ball End.

In 1989, DR Strings re-introduced hand-made round core string making to the general market. It requires a lot of skill, time and care, but we feel it’s worth it because we can hear the difference between a handmade string and a machine made string.

If we can hear it, of course players will hear it.

Our winders take at least 6 months to learn their craft. It takes that long to develop a feel, an understanding, an instinct to make the constant tiny adjustments that only a hand can make.  At each stage we test the wire, we check that it is pristine when it arrives from our suppliers, we inspect each and every wrap during production to ensure its perfect, and then again as we hand-package it.

We use only the finest American materials starting with the wire, to the ball ends, to the packaging.

When someone sees the DR logo, that is what they are getting, the best of everything.

When you put DR strings on a guitar, you’re not only looking for the response of a fresh string,

you’re looking to hear something extra that you didn’t hear before, and that’s our goal…to give you more.

DR was born from guitars. Al Dronge, the founder of Guild Guitars, always wanted to add a string making facility.

Mark Dronge took the lessons he learned from his father and applied them to DR.

We are players at DR and we are encouraged to come up with new ideas.  In our testing lab, we experiment and design unique and different strings.  Quietly, we have been one of the most innovative string companies out there.

We guarantee that players will hear and feel the difference when they play DR handmade strings.

We can’t guarantee that you will like the difference…we hope players do.

This is one of the reasons why we make so many models, for a small company.

We listen and we understand what the players are after and we go for it.

My son and I are both learning guitar. He’s 7 and super exited about these helping him with Rocksmith. I thought about getting myself some but find I have quickly grown out of looking at the strings. The finish is very durable. Small amounts came off at the tuners when bent sharp. But I expect it to only wear like the package states. It doesn’t seem to continue coming off. They sound good too. They are a little pricey but fit the purpose and are made here in the USA. I’d definitely recommend them for Rocksmith or if you want your guitar to look like a pride banner. Update: They are wearing really well. Still holding the tuning pretty good. The finish is coming off a little on the high E, B and G. The unwound strings. And I mean a little. Just a couple spots wear the pick hits. He has been taking lessons once a week and playing more often than that. His teacher finds them useful as well. It makes it really easy to tell an eight year old put your fingers on the yellow and blue strings second fret. Instead of a lengthy talk to get his fingers in the right spot.

I picked these up as a sort of novelty for my old electeic guitar as i thought it would be cool to pair with the game Rocksmith. Turns out it was a great idea! Got the low gauge strings and I must say if you are new to guitar or have troubles with your finger tips hurting after a short time playing give these babys a try! The coating makes it softer to the touch and easier to play for longer. However buyer beware as you play the strings with your pick it will slowly flake away where you strum and sometimes also slightly will wear where the strings meet the frets. Personally this does not bother me but I know that this bothers some so just be aware the string color can wear off, especially if you really like to shred. (-: happy jamming
Best idea I've ever seen!! Love the strings, and the colours are great!. I put these on my acoustic (Yes I use electric strings on an acoustic) and they still have a good sound after about 6 months of use (I don't use my acoustic too much so don't change strings regularly). Only bad thing I can say, is that the high E string is almost impossible to see on a rosewood or ebony fretboard, as its a deep purple colour and so thin, should be alright on a maple board though
